This section configures in-app conferences & calls (VoEx), and integrations with third-party systems: Vinteo, SIP telephony.

Detailed setup instructions are available in the administrator documentation.

Janus Instances & Janus load

Configures the ability to use multiple Janus servers.

VoEx

Configures calls and conferences in the app.

Parameter Description
Enable screen sharing for corporate users outside of contour Enables participants outside the Corporate Data Transmission Network (CDTN) to view screen sharing. If unchecked, only users within the CDTN can see the screen sharing. User server affiliation is not checked here; only the network contour matters.
Allow remote desktop control Allows users of this server to remotely control the shared screen during calls and conferences in the desktop app (as of version 3.62).
Enable the effect sdk license server for clients Enables the built-in license server for the background blur and call background images feature (as of version 3.62).
TURN Server, STUN Server Servers (and connection ports) that facilitate voice traffic routing for client apps behind NAT/PAT.
VoEx local network Configures the local network for the VoEx service.
Force relay ice The app will use only the TURN server for NAT traversal, even if a direct (p2p) connection is possible. Improves connection reliability.
Allow TCP ICE Enables TCP instead of UDP within the ICE protocol. Useful in environments where UDP is blocked.
Enable audio streams mixing Audio stream mixing combines incoming audio streams on the server to reduce the number of streams sent back to clients — this reduces the load on client devices. Mixing also enables additional features such as echo cancellation and voice volume leveling. This setting is enabled by default and hidden behind a server environment variable.
Allow use of optional video codec Allows clients to use the VP9 video codec. This setting is disabled by default and hidden behind a server environment variable.
Enable ability to record calls Activates audio and video recording for calls and conferences for users on the server.
Default permission for recording Controls access to recording calls and conferences for all server users or only for call and conference administrators.
Enable ability to transcribe calls Activates speech-to-text conversion (transcribing) for calls and conferences for users on the server.
If disabled, users will receive a “No Access” error when trying to enable transcription in the app.
⚠️ The transcription feature requires the call recording feature to be enabled.
Recording mode Whether recordings will contain only audio, audio with screen sharing, or audio, screen sharing, and video.
Access to records Who can download call and conference recordings:
  • all — any users
  • corporate — corporate users
  • trusts — users from the current corporate server and trusted corporate servers
  • contour — users of the internal data security perimeter
Maximum participants per conference The limit by number of calls/conferences participants for users of the server. The option is available since version 3.60.

Lobby

Conferences waiting room settings:

Parameter Description
Enable lobby Adds the Waiting Room button when creating a conference.
Require voex lobby for guests When enabled, guests cannot join the conference without going through the waiting room, even if the administrator hasn't enabled it.
Block legacy clients in a conferences with lobby When enabled, users with an older version of the client app that doesn't yet support the waiting room (pre iOS 3.61, Android 3.60, Web/Desktop 3.58) will see a “Call connection error”. When disabled, such users will join the conference bypassing the waiting room.

How to Configure the Retention Period for Call and Conference Recordings?

The retention period for processed recordings (in days) is configured in the File Service section. To configure the retention period for unprocessed recordings, use a special flag in the configuration file. For details, contact eXpress support.

Centralized Call Settings Management

These settings allow you to set predefined quality settings for all server users in calls and conferences. For example, you can forcibly reduce the quality for all users if the organization's network channel has low bandwidth.

Parameter Description
Apply server restrictions for sound quality, video and screen sharing in calls Enables quality settings management from the server.
Allow users to independently manage the quality of the media Users will be able to override the settings received from the server.
Enable noise suppression Controls whether the built-in noise suppression feature in eXpress clients is enabled by default. Disable it to have noise suppression off by default if issues arise when using it, or if third-party noise suppressors are used in calls. In any case, users can manage their noise suppression setting themselves; this setting only controls its default state. Available starting from server software and Android & web/desktop apps version 3.68. The iOS app does not have a built-in noise suppressor.
Incoming/Outgoing video quality Configures the quality of the input/output video stream from the camera and during screen sharing.
Audio bitrate Manages the quality of transmitted audio.
h264 screen codec to save processor resources enabled Enables an optimal codec for low-performance computers (screen sharing quality will be lower).
Maximum allowed cameras in a call Restricts the number of active videocameras used in calls.

User Ratings

Parameter Description
Enable logs Records server logs for all calls and conferences.
Collect client logs of all calls Client logs from any call will be sent to the server and archived together with the server logs.
Always ask if call has an error Automatically requests feedback if a call error occurs. Logs and feedback are sent to the server and available in the server log archive.
Call's assessment frequency How often users are automatically prompted for feedback (in number of calls).
Retention of user logs The retention period (in months) for logs uploaded from client apps.

Third-Party Integrations

The Links Settings, Vinteo, and SIP groups configure integrations with third-party calling systems. See the administrator documentation.

⚠️ The field selected in the Preferred phone number (SIP) menu will be hidden for users if SIP integration is disabled.
