мессенджеры, работающие в России

Using familiar messaging apps has become inconvenient: they either don't open, work intermittently, and require additional tools. We're looking at which messaging apps are currently working reliably in Russia. This article highlights options for both business and everyday communication—from corporate plans with advanced features to free ones that are perfectly suitable for a small team.

What to consider when choosing a messenger

  • Availability. Stable operation on any network within Russia without using third-party tools.
  • Functionality. Access to basic features such as audio and video calls, chats, channels, and file sharing,
  • Reputation. The service’s popularity among clients, partners, or acquaintances
  • Security. To protect confidential information, choose secure messengers with servers located in Russia that comply with Russian legislation.
  • Compliance with Russian Law.If you're looking for a reliable messenger with a lower risk of restrictions and blocking, pay attention to how the service complies with Russian law. One indicator might be inclusion in the Register of Information Dissemination Organizers (ORI).

The Registry of Information Dissemination Organizers (ORI) — is a list of Internet services subject to Russian legislation regarding information storage and interaction with government agencies. The mere presence of a service in the registry does not mean that it fully complies with all established requirements or cannot be restricted in the event of their violation.

How to transfer data to a new messenger

When switching messengers, users usually need to solve three tasks: transfer contacts, preserve important conversations, and invite contacts to the new app.

Contacts

Most modern messengers synchronize with the phone’s address book. After installing the app, users only need to grant access to their contacts, and the service will automatically display those who are already registered.

If the person you need is not on the list, you can send them a link to your profile or a QR code.

Chat history

In most cases, it is not possible to transfer chat history directly between different messengers. This is because each service uses its own format for storing messages and files. Therefore, save any documents, photos, and other materials that may be needed after the transition. Alternatively, use an export feature.

Some platforms offer their own migration tools. For example, corporate eXpress users have access to a dedicated bot for transferring chats, channels, and bots from Telegram.
