On the pages of the online publication ICT-Online.ru, Lidiya Pozdnyakova, HR Director of eXpress, shared practical advice on how to overcome post-holiday apathy after long holidays or vacations and return to your usual work routine as smoothly as possible.
First, don't scold yourself for lack of strength and desire to perform labor feats. Your main task is to return yourself to a state of balance, and your strict inner critic is unlikely to help you with this. Start with your physical condition: establish a drinking regime, try to go to bed earlier.
Tidy up your workspace. Clear out your desk, remove all unnecessary things from it, throw away unnecessary papers, clean your computer from unnecessary files, update the software. Alternatively, you can buy a new diary, planner, office supplies. It may seem like these are small things, but they are the ones that help you get into the right mood for workdays.
Informal communication with colleagues gives you a great boost for work. Ask your colleagues how they rested, how and where they spent this time. Don't start your first meeting with your team with work-related issues. Conversations not related to work will improve the emotional atmosphere in the team.
After a long vacation, you shouldn't perform labor feats; it's better to increase your workload gradually. Make a to-do list for the first two weeks and take on tasks with real deadlines.
Managers should plan tasks taking into account the state of employees after long holidays. And be sure to synchronize goals and plans with the team.
Don't forget that every day can be bright. After work, plan a meeting with friends, go to a cafe, buy tickets to the theater or cinema. Do something that brings you joy, so that you don’t associate work with a hopeless routine.
In order to quickly switch from a holiday rhythm to a work rhythm, you need to rest properly. Insure yourself against holiday apathy, for example, break up the weekend into several stages: allow yourself to “let loose” in the first two or three days, and then gradually begin to return to the regime.
