Modern companies operate in conditions of high uncertainty: technological breakthroughs, economic instability, changes in work processes due to remote work and hybrid formats - all this requires leaders to make quick decisions. In such conditions, it is important not only to maintain the team's performance, but also to analyze processes, adapt strategies and look for ways to increase employee engagement.
eXpress Scrum Master Dmitry Shugaley spoke about the key stages of team development, the importance of trust, cross-functionality and methods for assessing the maturity of a team.
For example, the first step is to determine what stage of formation the team is at. If the team is just getting together, you need to build processes and distribute roles. If it is going through the "storming" stage - resolve conflicts and form a culture of communication. At the normalization stage, it is important to establish productive interaction, and when the team becomes as effective as possible, to maintain a high level of motivation and engagement.
An equally important aspect is the level of trust in the team. In a rapidly changing environment, employees must openly discuss tasks, share ideas and freely express opinions. If trust is low, isolation, resistance to change and decreased productivity arise. Various methods help to assess it, for example, a health check, which reveals how comfortable people are working together and what aspects need improvement.
Employees who can flexibly switch between tasks also gain value. The cross-functionality of the team becomes a key advantage of the company.
