Remote work slows down the adaptation of IT specialists

IT industry representatives adapt to a new workplace the slowest. This is the conclusion made by SuperJob specialists based on the results of the study. Thus, programmers need an average of 111 days to adapt to a new workplace. Market players explain the situation by the complexity of processes in the IT sphere, as well as the prevalence of remote work.

According to the authors of the survey, which involved 3,000 representatives of the economically active population with at least a year of experience in their last job, from all districts of the country, the average Russian adapts to a new workplace in 60 days. "Security guards, drivers and foremen adapt to new working conditions the fastest, programmers, analysts and chief accountants the slowest.

"Representatives of the IT industry adapt on average the slowest. Answering the question "After what time after starting work at your last place of work did you feel that you had fully adapted, became "one of the guys" / "one of the guys"?", 7% noted that they still had not adapted, 10% - immediately or in a day, 12% - in a week, the same number - in a month, and after three months a quarter of respondents were able to adapt - 24%, after six months - 20%, and every fifth (10%) - in a year. 5% found it difficult to answer," said SuperJob representatives.

"The number of IT specialists is growing. Their number specializations are growing, as is the complexity of the programs and processes themselves. The trend is also influenced by the transition from narrow knowledge and experience to more extensive stories. It is not for nothing that so-called Fullstack developers have appeared, who can do both backend and frontend. They need to know dozens of technologies and be able to apply them correctly. It is logical that they need more time to get to grips with the processes of a new company"
